Ukrainian delegation has arrived to sit down for talks

International : Ukrainian officials have arrived at the Ukraine-Belarus border for talks with Russia. The office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a statement.

Kiev’s delegation includes Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov and Presidential Adviser Mikhail Podoliak, among others. The statement said that the main topic of discussion was immediate ceasefire and withdrawal of troops from Ukraine.

Talks are expected to begin soon, the statement said.

Russia and Ukraine are set to hold talks five days after the start of the campaign. Belarus says a venue has already been set up for the talks.

Belarusian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Anatoly Glaz said in a statement that the decision was “impossible”.

Anatoli Glaz also posted a picture of a large table in the meeting place and wrote on Twitter that all preparations have been made for peace talks between Russia and Ukraine. We are waiting for the delegation to arrive. Discussions will begin as soon as all the delegates reach the designated place.

It is learned that the talks are going to take place near the river Pripyat on the Ukraine-Belarus border.

Meanwhile, on the fifth day of the operation, huge explosions were heard in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, and Kharkiv, the country’s second largest city. Russia has also fired missiles at a residential building in the city of Chernihiv.

Russia’s military launched a series of bombings and missile strikes on Ukraine just minutes after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a military operation on Thursday (February 24th). Since then, war has been raging between Ukraine and Russia. The war has so far killed 352 Ukrainian civilians and injured 1,084. Ukraine has also claimed that 4,300 Russian troops have been killed.
